Leslie Council, founder of My Sistah Taught Me That, is a native of Asheville, North Carolina. She is a professional working in the healthcare field who has served on multiple community boards and is a part of many organizations. She currently serves on the Women's Commission of Buncombe County, is a Steering Committee member of the Medical Minority Mentoring Program at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC), and is very involved with the work of the Western North Carolina Diversity Engagement Coalition as a member of the Mission Health Diversity Council.
Leslie is passionate about the advancement of our next generation and is dedicated to the work this program and others like it represent. She is a community leader and advocate in Western North Carolina for social justice, racial equity, workforce diversity, and youth exposure to greater opportunites than often presented them.
